About The Position

Premier Veterinary Group in Chicago, IL is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our New Cardiology Department team! As the Cardiology Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for managing client communication, including scheduling, patient histories, prescription refills, post-visit follow-up, financial estimates, and discharge instructions. You will also provide patient restraint and assist with cardiology procedures, including echocardiograms, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, temporary pacemaker implantation, thoracocentesis, pericardiocentesis, and abdominocentesis. Your duties will include collecting diagnostic samples and performing technical tasks such as blood draws, IVC placement, thoracic radiographs, ECG setup and monitoring, Holter monitoring preparation, and CRI setup for emergency patients. You will monitor and administer anesthesia for procedures, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot cardiology equipment, and coordinate referring veterinarian communication. Additionally, you will audit invoices, provide owners with charge updates, facilitate ICU patient visits, support discharge readiness, and assist veterinarians and inpatient teams with patient exams, treatments, diagnostics, husbandry, and treatment sheet updates. You will also monitor external laboratory submissions, diagnostic workflows, and patient records in EzyVet.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) strongly preferred; new graduates and current CVT students are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical veterinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours) and lift/restrain patients up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Collaborative team player with flexibility to support evolving hospital needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) required.
