Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Lovejoy Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is hiring full-time Veterinary Technicians to provide skilled patient care and exceptional client service in its general practice and urgent care hospital. The new hospital is scheduled to open in October 2026 in Boston’s historic North End. The ideal candidate has animal-care, client-communication, and veterinary-procedure experience and is passionate about improving the lives of pets and their owners. The hospital is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. The role requires evening work and rotating weekends. The advertised salary is $29–$35 per hour, determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
Requirements
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and patient status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
