About The Position

Animal ER Care - Central is an AAHA-accredited urgent care practice that works with its sister emergency hospital to serve the urgent and emergent needs of the community. The practice is seeking compassionate veterinary technicians interested in urgent care. This outpatient technician role focuses on assessing critical triages; patient care and stabilization; critical-care monitoring; induction and monitoring of sedation and anesthetic procedures; and outpatient treatments. The role calls for critical thinking about disease processes, prioritizing multiple cases, working during periods of limited staff support, and managing critical patients with knowledge and confidence. As an essential part of the client experience, the technician must communicate effectively, understand veterinary medicine, and multitask while exercising sound judgment.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience as a veterinary technician.
Ability to maintain composure during high-stress situations.
Ability to provide compassionate care to owners and their pets.
Excellent communication skills and experience in client education.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment with all members of the hospital team.
Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to lift animals up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and bend or crouch to restrain patients.
May be exposed to physical harm such as bites and scratches, contagious diseases, unpleasant odors, and noise.

Responsibilities

Assess critical triages.
Provide patient care and stabilization.
