About The Position

St. Francis Animal Hospital is seeking an Experienced or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our supportive team in North Huntingdon, PA. We are a small-animal and pocket-pet hospital offering a wide range of services, including wellness exams, dentistry, and surgery. Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician or Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Safe and effective patient handling and restraint skills
  • Knowledge of preventive care and vaccines
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring
  • Solid technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and laboratory procedures
  • Professional, compassionate communication with clients and team members
  • Accurate and concise documentation of patient records and client interactions
  • Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork
  • Desire to continue learning and growing within veterinary medicine

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough histories, vitals, and patient assessments
  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care from intake through discharge
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
  • Monitor anesthesia and support surgical and dental procedures
  • Provide patient monitoring and supportive care, including TPRs, pain scoring, and wound care
  • Educate clients on patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care
  • Maintain clean, stocked treatment and exam areas while following infection control protocols
  • Accurately document patient care, treatments, and client communication in the medical record
