Part-Time Veterinary Technician - ICU
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno, Nevada is hiring a daytime, part-time ICU Veterinary Technician. The role supports state-of-the-art veterinary services and involves caring for critically ill patients in a fast-paced team environment. The hospital supports technician career advancement through skill-based leveling, training, and leadership development. The pay scale is $22–$33 per hour, with starting pay dependent on experience, advancement through the Kahuna leveling system, and whether the technician holds an active veterinary technician license. Eligible weekend hours receive shift differential pay, based on a four-hour minimum; the posting gives Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., as an example at $3.50 per hour. The technician works alongside skilled technicians and assistants to provide advanced patient care, and may mentor and train coworkers. Responsibilities
- Triage patients and obtain patient histories.
- Identify patients at risk for cardiac arrest and initiate CPR.
- Place peripheral intravenous catheters and advanced catheters, such as central lines or PICC lines.
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients.
- Perform diagnostics and outpatient care.
- Work with technicians and assistants to provide advanced medical care.
- Mentor and train coworkers.
- Nurse critically ill patients back to health and help reunite them with their pet parents.
