About The Position

Littleton Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician for its three-doctor small animal and exotic practice in Littleton, Massachusetts. The hospital is committed to exceptional patient care, progressive medicine, patient safety, and a supportive environment where team members can develop their skills. The practice is working toward AAHA accreditation and follows a Cat Friendly approach to patient care. The position offers opportunities to gain experience in exotic medicine, anesthesia, surgical support, and laser therapy. Credentialed technicians and experienced veterinary assistants or non-credentialed technicians are encouraged to apply. The schedule consists of four-day workweeks and rotating Saturdays. Compensation is $20–$25 per hour, based on experience.

Nice To Haves

Credentialed Veterinary Technician status as a CVT, LVT, or RVT.
Anesthesia monitoring and surgical support experience.

Responsibilities

Triage patients and collect medical histories, vital signs, and initial assessments.
Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, diagnostic procedures, and medical appointments.
Provide compassionate nursing care from patient intake through discharge.
Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, treatments, and fluid therapy as directed.
Perform venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and diagnostic sample collection.
Process laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostic procedures.
Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients using temperature, pulse, respiration, pain scoring, and other nursing assessments.
Provide wound care and supportive nursing treatments.
Assist with surgical preparation, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and recovery.
Maintain patient safety standards during anesthetic and surgical procedures.
Educate clients about medications, discharge instructions, preventive care, and at-home patient needs.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, veterinarians, and team members.
Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
Keep treatment areas, equipment, and supplies clean, organized, and ready for use.
