About The Position

Occidental Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician, or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join its close-knit team. The position may be full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate. This is a small-town, non-corporate practice in Occidental, California, offering a supportive team, a flexible schedule, and no weekends. Pay is $26–$32 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits are available to eligible employees.

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred.
• Experienced Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants are encouraged to apply.
• Ideally, at least 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Strong technical and patient care skills.
• Excellent communication and client service abilities.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Dependable, reliable, and committed, with the ability to follow through and communicate well.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential.
• At least 2 years of veterinary hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with appointments, treatments, and procedures.
• Place IV catheters and monitor anesthesia.
• Perform dental cleanings and obtain dental radiographs.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist during procedures.
• Calculate medication dosages and fluid rates.
• Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Safely restrain patients and assist with diagnostics.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Help keep the hospital clean, organized, and running efficiently.
• Support the team and patients wherever needed.
