Requirements

Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred
Hands-on experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical environment
Strong animal handling and restraint skills
A passion for pets and high-quality veterinary care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, coworkers, and yourself
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
The ability to multitask and remain productive in a busy veterinary environment
A positive, dependable, and supportive approach to teamwork

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
Obtain patient histories and vital signs
Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments
Assist with diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures
Collect blood and other diagnostic samples as appropriate to your experience
Assist with venipuncture and IV catheter placement as appropriate to your skills and role
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery as appropriate to your experience
Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations
Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital workspaces clean, organized, and well stocked
Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members
Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on tasks
Support teammates and help maintain an efficient hospital workflow
Contribute to a positive experience for every patient and client
