About The Position

Best Care Pet Hospital is hiring a full- or part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide skilled patient care and exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, and is passionate about improving the lives of pets and their owners. The role supports veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery. It also involves communicating with clients, performing technical procedures, maintaining medical records, and helping keep the hospital’s rooms, equipment, and treatment areas clean and ready. The position is in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The hospital provides veterinary wellness medicine, advanced care, and general surgery, and is AAHA-accredited. The schedule is 30 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The listed salary is $18.00 to $21.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Requirements

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification.
Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and patient status updates.
Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
