Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Dorset Street Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to provide skilled patient care and exceptional service to clients. The role supports veterinarians with examinations, surgery, anesthesia, recovery, and other technical duties, while helping ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming hospital environment. The hospital is a new urgent care veterinary practice in South Burlington, Vermont, caring for dogs and cats across the greater Burlington area. The position pays $25.00–$32.00 per hour, based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. The schedule includes a mix of weekday and weekend shifts, with some evenings required; the hospital is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Requirements
- At least one year of veterinary experience.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and patient status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
- Keep examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
