About The Position

The Veterinary Technician works in the Emergency department at WVRC Waukesha, a 24/7 VECCS Level I Certified Emergency & Critical Care and Specialty Hospital. The role provides advanced emergency and critical care in a collaborative, state-of-the-art hospital alongside specialists, emergency clinicians, and support staff. Technicians are entrusted with advanced patient care and hands-on responsibility, with structured training, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.

The schedule is second shift, four 9–10-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend and some holidays. CVT starting pay is $24 per hour and up, depending on experience, with a $3-per-hour differential for hours worked between 4 p.m. and midnight. A $1,500 hiring bonus is offered for CVTs.

Requirements

• CVT licensure, or eligibility to obtain a license within 9 months.
• At least 1 year of veterinary technician experience.
• Comfort with restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and nursing care.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Nice To Haves

• Emergency room experience is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient triage, trauma assessments, diagnostics, emergency patient stabilization, and ongoing patient care.
• Provide restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and general nursing care.
• Calculate medications and fluid rates, including CRIs.
• Monitor general anesthesia.
• Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support teams.
