Chestnut Street Animal Hospital is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to our team. Chestnut Street Animal Hospital, founded in 1996, is committed to providing the highest quality medical care in a warm, friendly, comfortable atmosphere. Our veterinarians and staff provide a wide range of services including diagnostic testing and medical care of sick animals, wellness exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and a full range of surgical and dental services. We provide care for cats, dogs, birds, and pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc.) We offer an on-site laboratory, digital whole body and dental x-rays and surgical suite. We provide ultrasounds on a scheduled basis and have a collaborative relationship with offsite specialists with whom we can instantly share test results and digital x-rays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in dentals and anesthesia and sedation monitoring as well as rooms
  • Experienced Veterinary Technician – CVT preferred, but open to highly skilled, well-rounded technicians regardless of credentialing

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Doctors in appointments
  • Take patient histories from clients for appointments
  • Technician appointments
  • Various housekeeping duties (laundry, dishes, taking out garbage, etc.)
  • Communicating with clients via phone and in-person
  • Executing treatment orders, canine and Feline vaccine knowledge and schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent relations with clients/pets in waiting and/or exam rooms
  • Prepares patient files and charts
  • Answers client’s inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures
  • Educates clients on over-the-counter products such as flea and tick preventions
  • Receives and relays telephone, fax, and email messages accurately and promptly
  • Maintain accuracy with cash drawer, credit card-scratch pay and CareCredit transactions
  • Monitor anesthesia for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures
  • Perform routine and advanced treatments and procedures, including injections, oral medications, blood draws, basic pharmacology and bandaging
