About The Position

Vista Veterinary Specialists is hiring for full-time positions within our growing specialty hospital. If you are passionate about advanced patient care, specialty medicine, cardiology, internal medicine, emergency care, diagnostic imaging, and veterinary nursing, we invite you to join our collaborative team. Prior experience is preferred but not required. We are committed to training motivated candidates who are eager to develop advanced nursing skills in a specialty hospital environment. Vista Veterinary Specialists is a 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital serving Northern California. Our recently expanded 17,300-square-foot facility was designed to support advanced specialty and critical care medicine. Our hospital features: Five fully equipped operating rooms Advanced on-site CT scanner Dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Intermediate Care Unit (ICW) Digital radiography Ultrasonography Endoscopy suite Full in-house laboratory Advanced patient monitoring systems Specialty Services Emergency & Critical Care Cardiology Internal Medicine Radiology Our multi-disciplinary team is committed to providing exceptional patient care through collaboration, advanced diagnostics, and cutting-edge veterinary medicine.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license required
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia, pharmacology, patient monitoring, and advanced nursing care
  • Ability to perform accurate drug dosage and fluid calculations
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and patient care
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in specialty, emergency, cardiology, or internal medicine preferred
  • Experience in veterinary medicine preferred
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, and patient handling preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced veterinary nursing care for specialty patients
  • Perform patient assessments, triage, and medical history collection
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as directed
  • Assist with cardiology diagnostics including ECGs and echocardiography
  • Assist with internal medicine procedures and advanced case management
  • Collect and process laboratory samples
  • Assist with radiography, CT imaging, and diagnostic procedures
  • Prepare and monitor patients for anesthesia and recovery
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Educate clients regarding treatment plans, medications, and home care
  • Collaborate with specialists, veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff to deliver exceptional patient care
