About The Position

CityVet South Hulen is seeking a Veterinary Technician to help deliver excellent patient care and maintain efficient clinic operations. The role supports veterinarians by handling technical and administrative work, helping them use their time effectively, and streamlining communication among the operating room, front office, clients, and care teams. A Veterinary Technician Assistant may also be considered with at least one year of experience. Compensation is based on experience and education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
• At least one year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medication.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist height.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery, administering anesthesia, taking x-rays, gathering laboratory specimens, monitoring patients after surgery, and restraining animals during exams.
• Collect stool, blood, and other samples for testing.
• Test collected samples and help interpret results.
• Administer prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and other medications as directed by the veterinarian.
• Obtain medical information from clients and explain how to care for their animals under the veterinarian’s plan of care.
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed.
• Support efficient daily practice and facilitate communication between the operating room, front office staff, and clients.
