About The Position

Veritas Veterinary Partners is seeking Veterinary Technicians for their swing ER department at Garden State Veterinary Specialists (GSVS) in Eatontown, NJ. GSVS is a multispecialty practice with board-certified specialists in various fields, including Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Dermatology, Cardiology, and Ophthalmology. They also offer radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroid cats. Veterinary Technicians at GSVS work alongside specialists and utilize advanced diagnostic tools.

Requirements

  • CVT/LVT/RVT preferred, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a technician.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and experience with anesthetic monitoring.
  • Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens.
  • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Understanding of normal vs abnormal physiologic ranges.
  • Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community.
  • Positive outlook and friendly, team-orientated attitude.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to deliver exceptional client service.

Nice To Haves

  • VTS highly regarded and justly compensated.
  • Additional fluency in other languages is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general anesthesia and sedated procedures, including sedation, induction/maintenance, and instrument care/sterilization.
  • Set up CRIs and calculate medical math.
  • Place IV catheters and institute fluid therapy.
  • Position appropriately for radiographs and understand radiation safety.
  • Provide quality, compassionate nursing care for hospitalized patients.
  • Prepare and administer transfusions: Blood and Plasma.
  • Maintain accurate treatment sheets.
  • Obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing.
  • Use mechanical ventilators for anesthesia.
  • Provide client education on a wide range of at-home care.
  • Mentor and train veterinary assistants.
