About The Position
Willowcreek Animal Hospital is seeking a reliable and compassionate Veterinary Technician for its mixed animal practice. The position works with both small and large animals, assisting veterinarians in providing medical care and supporting daily clinic operations. The role includes assisting with examinations, treatments, surgeries, diagnostics, radiographs, medication administration, patient handling, client communication, emergency care, and clinic upkeep. The work environment may involve exposure to animal-related hazards, biological materials, cleaning products, anesthetic gases, medical sharps, radiographic exposure, therapy lasers, and zoonotic diseases.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
- Availability for regular Monday-Friday shifts, on call one day per week, and one weekend per month.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of experience as a veterinary technician is preferred but not required.
- Veterinary technician certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Monitor anesthesia and patient recovery.
- Perform laboratory testing and diagnostics.
- Assist in taking radiographs (X-rays).
- Administer medications.
- Handle and restrain animals safely.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Communicate with and educate clients.
- Assist with emergency and critical care cases.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the clinic and equipment.
