About The Position

CityVet is seeking Veterinary Technicians to join their team at the South Austin location. A Veterinary Technician Assistant with at least 1 year of experience will also be considered. The role focuses on maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by assisting the Veterinarian, managing technical work and administrative details to improve efficiency, and facilitating communication between the veterinary team, front office, and clients. Requirements

High school diploma or GED
At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
Understanding and ability to properly and safely restrain animals
Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication
Ability to lift 50 lbs to waist height
Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication & listening skills
Self-motivated & team-oriented

Nice To Haves

Veterinary Technician Assistant experience (with a minimum of 1-year experience)

Responsibilities

Assist Veterinarians with patient preparation for surgery (administer anesthesia, take x-rays, gather lab specimens), monitor post-operative patients, and restrain animals during exams.
Obtain various patient samples, including stool and blood, for testing.
Perform tests on gathered samples and assist in interpreting the results.
Administer accurate dosages of prescribed medications, anesthesia, vaccines, or other medications as indicated by the DVM.
Communicate with clients, obtaining medical information and providing clear instructions on animal care plans.
Assist the Client Service Specialist team as needed.
