East Hartford Animal Clinic is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our talented surgical team. Requirements

  • At least one year of veterinary technician experience with a strong focus on surgery and anesthesia
  • Certification as a CVT, LVT, or RVT is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery
  • Proficiency in intravenous catheter placement and venipuncture
  • Confidence recognizing and responding to changes in anesthetized patients
  • Knowledge of canine and feline wellness protocols and vaccination guidelines
  • Strong technical nursing skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and client education abilities
  • The ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Experience with electronic medical records and veterinary practice software is a plus
  • A commitment to exceptional patient care and continued professional development
  • Dependability, flexibility, and a positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for surgery, including intravenous catheter placement, intubation, and surgical site preparation
  • Administer, monitor, and adjust anesthesia to ensure patient safety throughout surgical procedures
  • Monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and other patient vital signs during surgery and recovery
  • Maintain complete and accurate anesthesia and surgical records
  • Assist veterinarians during routine and soft tissue surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients during recovery and provide attentive postoperative nursing care
  • Educate clients on postoperative care, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Perform venipuncture, blood collection, medication preparation, and vaccine administration
  • Perform routine laboratory and clinical procedures as needed
  • Maintain sterile surgical instruments and a clean, organized surgical suite
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians and teammates to provide exceptional patient care
  • Support daily hospital operations while maintaining the highest standards of medical care
