About The Position

Livingston Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Technician for a part-time role. This is a newly renovated two-doctor small animal practice located in Livingston, NJ, focused on providing high-quality medicine and exceptional client service. The hospital fosters a positive, collaborative workplace where every team member is valued. As a smaller practice, technicians are cross-trained and play an important role in patient care, client experience, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and supporting check-in/check-out. Requirements

  • Experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a clinical setting
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills with a focus on low-stress techniques
  • Ability to accurately triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories
  • Knowledge of preventative care, vaccines, pharmacology, and medication administration
  • Experience with radiology, laboratory diagnostics, and patient nursing care
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and remain efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-first attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
  • Positive outlook, reliability, and a genuine passion for veterinary medicine

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate nursing care from patient intake through discharge
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform laboratory testing, radiology, and diagnostic procedures
  • Educate clients regarding treatment plans, medications, preventative care, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Keep treatment and exam areas clean, organized, and fully stocked
  • Assist with client service responsibilities, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and supporting patient check-in and check-out as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflows and a positive hospital culture
