About The Position

Chewy Vet Care is seeking a full-time Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support its veterinary practice team. The position provides high-level veterinary medical care in a purpose-built practice equipped with advanced equipment and technology. The technician supports patient and pet parent care, helps implement practice policies and procedures, and works collaboratively to deliver consistent care within their skills. The role includes advanced patient-care and administrative responsibilities, team support, and communication with veterinarians and other team members.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to complete the Veterinary Technician III skills checklist.
• Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate compassion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, observational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 80% of a shift.
• Ability to frequently lift 50 to 70 pounds, with an optional team lift, and occasionally lift more than 70 pounds using a team lift.
• Ability to stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of an accredited veterinary technology program and current licensure is preferred.
• Five or more years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in practice is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the practice team in providing proficient veterinary medical care and a positive pet parent experience.
• Implement practice policies and procedures, use integrated technology, and deliver appropriate medical care within the scope of skills.
• Perform Veterinary Technician I and II skills, as well as team member training, inventory management, mentoring, and handling client complaints.
• Provide patient care including blood transfusions, oxygen cage care, cardiac monitoring, dentistry, wound care, catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring for unstable or high-risk patients.
• Perform duties involving animal bodily fluids and tissues.
• Support team members and contribute to positive work experiences.
• Follow the practice’s Standard Operating Procedures and Standards of Care.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and provide veterinarians with timely patient updates, including for patients in practice, at referral, and under home care.
• Serve as a PIMS administrative super-user and help other team members use the technology.
• Handle pharmacy holdings responsibly and maintain controlled substance logs.
• Assist the practice manager with communicating inventory needs.
• Clean workspaces after each patient or patient lab sample interaction.
• Participate in self-development courses and required Chewy Vet Care compliance training.
• Perform related duties and assignments as advised by management, including other responsibilities considered vital to the role.
• Work weekends as required and travel as the position may require.
