Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Westchester Veterinary Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our established general practice in High Point, North Carolina. For more than 50 years, Westchester Veterinary Hospital has served pets and families throughout the Triad, including High Point, Greensboro, Kernersville, Jamestown, and Thomasville. We’re looking for a confident veterinary professional who can step into a busy hospital environment, support our doctors, and provide excellent patient care across appointments, surgery, anesthesia, diagnostics, and daily hospital operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant in a general practice, urgent care, or emergency setting
- Strong foundational veterinary skills and confidence working with canine and feline patients
- Experience with restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient care
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay organized in a fast-paced hospital
- Strong communication, teamwork, and client service skills
- Reliable, compassionate, and comfortable taking ownership of daily responsibilities
Nice To Haves
- RVT credential or eligibility to sit for the VTNE
- Surgery and anesthesia monitoring
- Dentistry and dental radiography
- In-house laboratory diagnostics
- Appointment support and client education
- Electronic medical records / veterinary practice management software
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with appointments, examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Perform technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient restraint
- Support surgery and anesthesia monitoring, including patient preparation and recovery
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed
- Provide nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients
- Assist with dentistry, diagnostics, and in-house laboratory procedures
- Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment and surgical areas
- Support appointments, drop-offs, and urgent patient needs in a busy general practice
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and patient documentation
- Educate clients on preventive care, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Help maintain efficient hospital flow and a positive client and patient experience
