About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Monroeville, PA is now hiring an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician. This role involves triaging incoming cases, monitoring vital signs, performing phlebotomy and catheter placement, digital radiography, calculating and administering medications, initiating CPR, and managing anesthesia patients. The position also requires mentoring coworkers and addressing client concerns with patience and empathy.

Requirements

  • Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience
  • Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Proficient in performing digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Ability to identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Experience sedating/inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia patients and using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Triage cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Sedate/induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
