About The Position

Veritas Veterinary Partners is seeking a Veterinary Technician specializing in Surgery & Anesthesia for PESCM, a 24/7 veterinary hospital in Marin County. This role involves overseeing appointments, assisting surgeons with patient care, processing lab samples, performing imaging, administering anesthesia, monitoring patients, maintaining medical records, providing nursing care, and educating clients on post-operative care. The position requires occasional holiday work and overtime. Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge along with preparation and administration of injectable and inhaled anesthetic agents
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary specialty setting required

Nice To Haves

  • RVT, or VTS preferred but not required with right candidates
  • Additional fluency in other languages is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Participating with the Surgeon’s in-patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
  • Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment such as radiography and CT
  • Executing, inducing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
  • Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs
  • Review and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient care
  • Providing empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient's hospitalization
  • Maintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care of all patients
  • Providing extensive client communication and education upon patient admit and at discharge regarding post-operative care medications
  • Ability to work occasional holidays and OT as needed
