About The Position

Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) is seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor for its Emergency Department. This full-time role involves a 4 ten-hour shift per week schedule, with varied days and some weekend shifts included. The position offers a starting pay of $30/hr, with a $5/hr overnight shift differential and a $3000 hiring bonus. The supervisor will lead, mentor, and train the technical team while also performing hands-on clinical tasks. This role partners with hospital management to ensure exceptional patient care, efficient operations, and a positive team environment. It is ideal for an experienced technician ready for a leadership opportunity.

Requirements

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) in good standing required
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in emergency, critical care, or specialty medicine
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong technical skill set including anesthesia, diagnostics, and ICU patient care
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and compassion.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) are required

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support veterinary technicians and assistants within the ER, fostering a positive, engaged, and accountable team culture.
  • Train and develop staff through ongoing coaching, skill assessments, and structured learning opportunities.
  • Create and manage team schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and control overtime.
  • Support overall operations, including case flow, quality of patient care, and client experience, in partnership with hospital leadership.
  • Assist with performance management, employee relations, and team development.
  • Facilitate team meetings and continuing education initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards such as OSHA and DEA requirements.
  • Work alongside the team in a hands-on capacity, performing technical tasks such as anesthesia monitoring, phlebotomy, catheter placement, radiographs, and providing advanced care for critical patients.
