About The Position
Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota is hiring a full-time ER/ICU Wards Technician to care for hospitalized patients recovering from illness, surgery, and emergency treatment. Working with emergency, critical care, and specialty teams, the technician provides nursing care and monitors patients through recovery until discharge. The role focuses on patient care and recovery rather than the constant pace of triage, and requires a compassionate, detail-oriented team member who can build relationships with patients and support their safe transition home.
Requirements
- One year of experience in clinical practice.
- Strong technical and nursing skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and medical math abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Passion for patient advocacy and compassionate care.
Nice To Haves
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT), or eligibility for credentialing.
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
- Emergency or Critical Care experience.
Responsibilities
- Monitor hospitalized patients and recognize changes in their condition.
- Perform treatments and procedures as directed by veterinarians.
- Administer medications and accurately calculate CRIs and drug dosages.
- Coordinate patient admissions, treatments, and discharges with specialty services.
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment charges in the EMR.
- Keep treatment and wards areas clean, organized, and ready for the next patient.
- Partner with doctors and teammates to deliver outstanding patient and client care.
