About The Position
Saugus Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join their collaborative, patient-focused team. Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician (required)
- Strong patient restraint and animal handling skills
- Experience with laboratory procedures, radiology, and patient care
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- The ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to support the team
Nice To Haves
- Surgical and anesthesia experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during appointments, treatments, and procedures
- Safely restrain patients for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
- Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other laboratory samples
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratories
- Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, and patient recovery (based on experience)
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Take and process radiographs
- Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Help keep the hospital clean, organized, and running efficiently
