Requirements

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Ability to diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases in companion animals
Proficiency in performing basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests
Ability to assist with detailed ocular exams
Proficiency in performing advanced ophthalmic diagnostic tests
Ability to set up and assist with procedures and surgeries
Experience with outpatient procedures
Experience with surgical procedures
Ability to place IV catheters and fluids for sedated/anesthetized patients
Ability to administer drugs through various routes
Ability to perform and monitor sedation/anesthesia
Ability to organize and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies
Ability to educate clients on their pet's ocular disease and care
Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S.
No requirement for future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Advanced skills in sedation/anesthesia including constant rate infusions, paralytics, ventilation
Experience with specific procedures like diamond burr debridement, CO2 laser treatments, eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, glaucoma surgery.

Responsibilities

Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and assist with patient holding for detailed ocular exams.
Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (e.g., retinal electrical function).
Set up and assist with procedures and surgeries that restore comfort and vision, ranging from outpatient procedures to basic and complex surgeries.
Assist with outpatient procedures such as diamond burr debridement and CO2 laser treatments.
Assist with surgical procedures including eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, and glaucoma surgery.
For patients undergoing sedation or anesthesia, place IV catheters and fluids, administer drugs, and perform and monitor sedation/anesthesia, including advanced skills like constant rate infusions, paralytics, and ventilation.
Help organize and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
Educate clients on their pet's ocular disease and care.
