About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an exceptional Veterinary Technician specializing in Ophthalmology. Responsibilities

  • Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and assist with patient handling for detailed ocular exams.
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (e.g., retinal electrical function).
  • Set up and assist with procedures and surgeries aimed at restoring comfort and vision, ranging from outpatient procedures to basic and complex surgeries.
  • Assist with outpatient procedures such as diamond burr debridement and CO2 laser treatments.
  • Assist with surgical procedures including eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, and glaucoma surgery.
  • For patients undergoing sedation or anesthesia, place IV catheters and fluids, administer drugs, and perform and monitor sedation/anesthesia, including advanced skills like constant rate infusions, paralytics, and ventilation.
  • Organize and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
  • Educate clients on their pet's ocular disease and care.
