About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology team! Play a vital role in diagnosing and treating cancer using advanced tools like radiography, ultrasound, biopsies, and cytology while assisting with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams, assess vital signs, and recognize abnormal lab values.
• Conduct phlebotomy and place IV catheters for chemotherapy administration.
• Safely prepare, dispense, and administer oral, SC, and IM chemotherapy agents.
• Verify chemotherapy calculations, dosages, and proper IV catheter setup.
• Recognize and respond to chemotherapy extravasation.
• Admit and discharge patients, obtaining history and educating clients on treatment, side effects, and home care.
• Communicate effectively with clients and veterinary teams, addressing concerns and facilitating calls.
• Understand tumor types, diagnostic protocols, and oncology-specific terminology.
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring for ASA I & II patients.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelines and hospital protocols.
• Perform other relevant role responsibilities.
