About The Position

Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group (VERG) in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a talented Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support its Oncology Department. The ideal candidate is compassionate, sensitive, patient with clients, and loves to make a difference. This is a high-touch position with extensive client interaction. As an oncology technician, you will work alongside experienced Medical Oncologists and other compassionate veterinary professionals, playing a vital role in diagnosing and treating cancer using advanced tools such as ultrasound, biopsies, cytology, and radiology, while administering or assisting with chemotherapy and palliative treatments to help our patients live their best lives.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude, motivated, compassionate, and possess strong clinical & communication skills.
  • 1 - 2 years experience in oncology or internal medicine.
  • Confident adapting to evolving patient needs, collaborating with multiple services, and building relationships with pet owners.
  • LVT licensure is required in the state of NY

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive chemotherapy and treatment support by safely administering chemotherapy, closely monitoring patients for adverse effects, and educating clients on post-treatment care.
  • Oversee oncology patients throughout their treatment, delivering pain management and supportive care while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Assist with fine needle aspirations, biopsies, cytology, and histopathology.
  • Guide pet owners through treatment options, provide clear instructions on at-home care, and offer emotional support.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and collaborate with oncologists to update treatment plans.
  • Administer pain relief and comfort care for patients in all stages of cancer.
  • Work closely with board-certified oncologists and other specialists to ensure coordinated care.
