About The Position

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center in Wilmington, NC is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join their outstanding Neurology team! This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with neurosurgical cases, electrodiagnostic testing, and long-term patient care in a collaborative environment where every day brings new challenges and learning experiences. As a Neurology Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our neurologists with diagnostics, medical management, and surgical procedures involving the brain, spine, and nervous system. You’ll assist with advanced imaging (MRI/CT), anesthesia for complex cases, and provide exceptional patient care from admission through recovery.

Requirements

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, or LVT) preferred, or experienced technician working toward licensure.
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience, preferably experience with or strong interest in neurology, surgery, anesthesia, or emergency care.
  • Proficiency in advanced veterinary knowledge including restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia induction, monitoring, fluid therapy, drug calculations, laboratory equipment and procedures, pharmacology, disease processes, etc.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently in high-acuity situations.
  • Attention to detail, with strong communication skills with both clients and team members, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely.
  • A team player who values learning, precision, and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with neurological exams, diagnostics, and imaging procedures (MRI, CT, myelograms).
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with neurosurgeries and spinal procedures.
  • Provide attentive, compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients.
  • Manage IV catheters, medications, and post-operative monitoring.
  • Support and educate clients with empathy and clear communication.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, inventory, and equipment organization.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, assistants, and other specialty departments to ensure seamless patient care.
