Veterinary Technician, Neurology

WVRC Waukesha is a 24/7 VECCS Level I Certified Emergency & Critical Care and Specialty Hospital, providing advanced, lifesaving care in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. Requirements
- At least two years of technical experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
- Experience with restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and general nursing care.
- The ability to lift and restrain patients up to 50 pounds.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative approach, a commitment to patient care, and a passion for veterinary medicine.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring and recovery, sterile scrub, and assisting with surgical procedures.
- CVT preferred but not required!
Responsibilities
- Provide general nursing care, including patient restraint, phlebotomy, and catheter placement.
- Advocate for patients and assist doctors during surgical procedures.
- Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery using equipment such as EKG, SpO₂, and Doppler monitors, and perform sterile scrub as needed.
- Communicate with clients by phone and in person, answering questions, providing updates on their pet’s condition, and following up after visits.
- Explain complex neurological conditions with compassion, patience, and professionalism.
- Collaborate with colleagues and build lasting relationships with clients and the community.
