About The Position

This is a full-time management role overseeing the Emergency and ICU departments at a veterinary specialty and emergency hospital. The position involves both clinical oversight and strategic leadership, with a focus on inspiring teams, driving departmental excellence, and maintaining a positive hospital culture. The role blends leadership with hands-on clinical work, including assisting with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures, as well as mentoring and developing Veterinary Technicians. The hospital is a new, large facility offering advanced medical treatments across multiple specialties.

Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) required
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in emergency or critical care
  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience
  • Strong technical skills, including triage and emergency case management, anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures, phlebotomy and venipuncture, drug calculations and medication administration
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily ICU and emergency operations.
  • Provide clinical oversight and strategic leadership.
  • Collaborate with Medical Director, Hospital Director, and Emergency DVM Lead.
  • Actively support Veterinary Technicians and assistants.
  • Assist DVMs with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to improve protocols and drive departmental initiatives.
  • Support team performance.
  • Mentor and develop Veterinary Technicians, elevating clinical skills in areas such as anesthesia, monitoring, triage, and critical care.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative work environment that supports patient outcomes and team well-being.
