With the support of their technicians, assistants, and liaisons the hospital teams work closely together to deliver the highest quality of care.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital, focusing on nursing care.
  • Comfortable with restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia.
  • Knowledge with Anesthesia and monitoring.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Knowledge of the procedures used for scheduling patients, receiving, treating, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
  • Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques to sterilize various instruments and materials.
  • Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to make preparations and provide "tableside" assistance.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CPR.
  • Experience with EzyVet.
  • Experience with Smartflow.
  • Associates degree in Veterinary Technology.
  • CVT license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical care to pets in need during overnight hours.
  • Assist specialists and veterinarians in delivering high-quality care.
  • Perform tasks such as restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Assist with CPR and other emergency procedures.
  • Manage patient scheduling, receiving, and treatment.
  • Order medical supplies and request laboratory tests.
  • Maintain and sterilize veterinary instruments and equipment.
  • Provide "tableside" assistance during treatments.
  • Assess client needs and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively in a clinical setting.
  • Multitask while maintaining a high standard of care.
