About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Radiology and Imaging team. Our compensation for this role depends on skillset, experience and licensure. Veterinary Assistant: $23 - $35, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT): $28.00 - $40.00, Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $35.00 - $48.00. As a technician in the radiology and imaging departments you will be responsible for partnering with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, performing anesthetic monitoring including intubation/extubation of patients, monitoring vitals, and troubleshooting of machines, obtaining and preparing various blood samples for diagnostic testing, accurately taking and processing multiple types of radiographs, overseeing outpatient and inpatient radiology and imaging schedules, coordinating with other departments, staff and radiologists, assisting Advanced Imaging Technicians with high quality MRI/CT studies, producing high quality diagnostic images in a timely manner, troubleshooting the machines and associated equipment, will need to have good knowledge of anatomy, possess effective communication with clients, radiologists, and specialists, will participate in the on-call rotation and will help patient care when the imaging department has down time, and practicing proper radiation safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 year of experience working as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant in an animal hospital setting required.
  • Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and working knowledge of radiographic techniques is required
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.
  • Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Passion for providing the highest quality in patient care.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent graduates with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology will be considered.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring is preferred.
  • RVT or VTS preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
