About The Position

Sage Veterinary Imaging, a leader in specialty diagnostic imaging, is seeking a Veterinary Technician III with a focus on anesthesia. This role involves managing anesthesia for patients undergoing advanced diagnostic procedures like MRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiography. You will be the primary anesthesia expert, responsible for developing and implementing anesthetic plans, monitoring patients, and responding to anesthetic events. Additionally, you will serve as a clinical resource for the team, mentor other technicians, and contribute to protocol development. When not focused on anesthesia, you will perform general Veterinary Technician III duties, including patient preparation, nursing care, monitoring, and maintaining imaging suites. The position emphasizes education and professional development, offering opportunities to mentor, lead training sessions, and contribute to clinical guidelines.

Requirements

Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT).
Minimum five (5) years of progressive veterinary anesthesia experience or equivalent specialty experience.
Demonstrated expertise in anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and anesthetic planning.
Proficiency with advanced anesthesia monitoring equipment.
Advanced veterinary nursing skills and patient care experience.
Ability to mentor fellow technicians and support clinical education.
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Strong commitment to patient safety, teamwork, and clinical excellence.

Nice To Haves

Specialty or referral hospital experience.
VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) credential or active pursuit of specialty certification.
Experience developing clinical protocols or quality improvement initiatives.
Experience teaching, mentoring, or leading technician training programs.

Responsibilities

Independently develop and implement individualized anesthetic plans for advanced diagnostic imaging procedures.
Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and post-anesthetic care for MRI, CT, ultrasound, radiography, and other specialty imaging procedures.
Recognize and respond appropriately to complex anesthetic events while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety.
Collaborate with veterinarians to optimize anesthetic protocols based on patient condition and procedural requirements.
Maintain and troubleshoot anesthesia delivery systems, monitoring equipment, and associated medical devices.
Maintain accurate anesthesia records and ensure compliance with established protocols.
Lead anesthesia quality assurance initiatives and contribute to protocol development and continuous clinical improvement.
Serve as the hospital's clinical resource for anesthesia-related questions, best practices, and patient safety.
Support MRI, CT, ultrasound, radiography, and other advanced imaging workflows.
Prepare patients for imaging procedures, including venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and nursing care.
Monitor hospitalized patients and support recovery.
Maintain imaging suites, anesthesia equipment, and procedural readiness.
Support efficient patient flow and daily hospital operations.
Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and client care teams to deliver an exceptional referral experience.
Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to Veterinary Technician I and II team members.
Mentor veterinary technicians in advanced anesthesia techniques and patient monitoring.
Assist with onboarding, competency validation, and technician development.
Lead anesthesia-focused wet labs, continuing education, and skills training.
Contribute to anesthesia protocols, clinical guidelines, and educational resources.
