Veterinary Technician II - Urgent Care
About The Position
The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician II to join our brand-new Urgent Care Clinic at our Papago Park Campus! Work four 9-hour shifts while making a lifesaving difference for animals in need. The Urgent Care veterinary technician's primary goal is to assist the veterinarians in providing compassionate care of every animal that enters the clinic. Technicians are a key part of our mission to ensure that pet owners receive quality care and resources for their pets while having an excellent experience every time. Strong communication abilities, compassion to help owners and pets in need and excellent customer service skills are a must.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-3 years of clinical experience, preferably some ER experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in all aspects of veterinary medicine including, but not limited to, collecting vitals, calculating and administering drugs, anesthesia administration and monitoring, wound care, radiology, lab procedures, etc.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs.

- CVT or CVMP certification
Responsibilities
- Assist the veterinarians in providing compassionate care of every animal that enters the clinic.
- Ensure that pet owners receive quality care and resources for their pets while having an excellent experience every time.
- Collect vitals, calculate and administer drugs, anesthesia administration and monitoring, wound care, radiology, lab procedures, etc.
- Fill, process and dispense controlled drugs from Cubex.
- Stay current in knowledge of emergency drugs and protocols.
- Communicate veterinary medical concepts to clients.
- Maintain all records and documentation in clinic management software.
- Offer an excellent experience every time to customers.
- Offer compassionate communication and clear home-care directions for their pets.
