About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a full-time Shelter Veterinary Technician to work at our Sunnyslope Campus. Join our compassionate team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of shelter animals and work a schedule of Monday and Thursday - Saturday 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Requirements

High school diploma/GED required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary.
Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment).
Knowledge of phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology and pharmacology.
Knowledgeable in anesthesiology.
Know veterinary medical concepts, including, but not limited to vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks. Be able to communicate such information to clients.
Safe and humane animal handling skills are required.
Work well both independently and cooperatively as part of team.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a veterinary assisting or technician program OR experience at a veterinary hospital or clinic (2+ years required).
CVT not required.
Education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

Assist the veterinarians in the treatment of animals.
Independently evaluate animals to determine adoptability.
Assist the veterinarians in all aspects of AHS clinics, including surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, client education, clinic asepsis, fluid therapy, and the administration of prescribed medications.
