About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Langhorne, PA is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate Emergency + ICU team! This role involves inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia, triaging emergency cases, performing digital radiography, and understanding normal patient vital signs. The technician will also interpret vital signs, identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR, calculate medical math including CRIs, administer medications, perform phlebotomy, place intravenous catheters, and place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. A passion for mentoring and training co-workers, along with patience and empathy for clients, is also important.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician
  • Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Ability to triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Ability to perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Ability to obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Ability to identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Ability to properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Proficiency at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Ability to place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Patience and empathy to address client concerns.
