We are looking to hire a Part-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running bloodwork, knowledge of x-rays, proper animal handling and restraint, surgical assisting experience, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member. Victoria Animal Hospital aims to provide owners with sound, honest choices for their pets and to provide our patients with excellent and compassionate medical care. Requirements
- 2+ years of recent experience in veterinary practice
- Must be able to draw blood
- Must be able to place IV catheters
- Knowledge of pharmacology & vaccine protocols
- Experience with Cornerstone Veterinary Software
- Ability to properly restrain patients
- Experience rooming patients (weight, history)
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision
- Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion
- Excellent communication skills
- A commitment to outstanding client service
- Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance
- Ability to stay on task and work energetically for an entire shift
