About The Position

Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston has full time openings in our Emergency-ICU Departments for skilled Veterinary Technicians and Assistants with recent experience in ER-ICU in an animal hospital or clinic. We opened our doors at Angell Boston in 1915 and continue to be a leader in innovative veterinary medicine. We practice cutting edge medicine in our State of the Art facilities and have recently renovated our Emergency-ICU departments. We help our technicians and assistants to grow by pursuing new advanced certifications and offer a generous tuition reimbursement plan. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and model strong technical skill including, but not limited to, venipuncture, assessing vitals, administering oral and injectable medications, post-op care and knowledge of isolation procedures, IVC placement, urinary catheter maintenance, calculations and administration of short-term infusions and CRI’s, care and use of jugular catheters, knowledge of oxygen cages and telemetry, care of tracheostomy tubes, chest tubes and arterial catheters, knowledge of blood products and parenteral nutrition, assisting with ventilator cases, and maintenance of continuous suction.
  • Utilize technical and clinical expertise in order to effectively assess, triage, and stabilize emergent and urgent case types.
  • Provide technical support during emergency situations and with patients requiring intensive nursing care and continuous monitoring.
  • Provide guidance and support to all staff members in the areas of patient care and unit operations.
  • Communicate and work closely with Leads and Supervisors.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate proactively with clients by responding to questions, complaints and compliments with a non-judgmental and compassionate attitude.
  • Ensure that staff is respectful of clients and their pets.
  • Assist veterinary staff with setting up and monitoring patients on dialysis machine or ventilator.
