Requirements

  • Previous veterinary assistant experience or an active veterinary technician license
  • A passion for pets and high-quality veterinary medicine

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, procedures, and surgeries
  • Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
  • Obtain patient histories and vital signs
  • Prepare patients and treatment areas for procedures
  • Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples as appropriate to your experience
  • Place IV catheters as appropriate to your experience and credentials
  • Assist with laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures
  • Support anesthesia monitoring and surgical recovery as appropriate to your role
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records
  • Educate clients about medications, treatments, preventive care, and follow-up instructions
  • Listen carefully to clients and make them feel heard and supported
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam and treatment areas
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members
  • Support teammates and jump in wherever needed to help the hospital run smoothly
  • Bring positivity, compassion, and professionalism to every patient and client interaction
