About The Position

The Neurology & Surgery Anesthesia Technician provides exceptional patient care while supporting advanced neurology and surgical procedures through anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, perioperative nursing care, and patient recovery. This role works closely with board-certified specialists and plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety throughout MRI, CT, surgical, and diagnostic procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree required.
  • RECOVER or CPR certification required.
  • Three or more years of experience working as a veterinary nursing team member.
  • One or more years of anesthesia experience required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring, pharmacology, and surgical procedures.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required.

Nice To Haves

  • LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred
  • Experience in specialty, emergency, surgery, or neurology environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor anesthesia for neurology and surgical procedures including MRI, CT scans, CSF taps, myelograms, and surgery.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care before, during, and after anesthesia and recovery.
  • Perform phlebotomy, sample collection, and peripheral IV catheter placement.
  • Administer IV fluid therapy and monitor patient response throughout procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, monitoring devices, surgical instruments, and MRI suites.
  • Monitor ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, capnography, and other critical patient parameters.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records, including medications administered and patient monitoring data.
  • Assist with neurologic diagnostic procedures and advanced surgical cases.
  • Calculate drug dosages, prepare CRIs, and administer anesthetic medications under veterinary supervision.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to anesthetic and medical emergencies.
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, technicians, and clients regarding patient care and status updates.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment, surgery, and MRI areas.
