About The Position

As a valued Veterinary Nurse, you will perform anesthesia on a multitude of different species. Including pre-op assessment, induction, maintenance and recovery of all patients.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
  • Extensive knowledge of physiology is required.
  • An Associate of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (for Vet Tech B)
  • An Associate of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (for Vet Tech C)
  • An Associate of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (for Vet Tech D)
  • An Associate of Science and 7 to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (for Vet Tech E)
  • Must have your own transportation.
  • Position requires rotating and on-call schedules as well as occasional overtime, with some weeknights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
  • Position requires the ability to be within a 30-minute travel time to the hospital when on-call.

Nice To Haves

  • Anesthesia experience is preferred but not required.
  • Large animal experience also isn’t required, but candidates must be comfortable working with all farm animal species.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary anesthesia care to clinical patients
  • Provide primary anesthesia care to research patients
  • Provide primary anesthesia care after hours (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Teach veterinary anesthesia to vet students & tech students
  • Stock appropriate areas
  • Participate in weekly anesthesia department rounds (twice weekly)
  • Maintain anesthesia equipment (anesthesia machines, monitors, blood gas machines, fluid pumps, etc.)
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
