Sharon Veterinary Hospital is a full-service small animal hospital looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our thriving practice. Sharon Veterinary Hospital strives to help our team members find a balance between life and work. The Veterinary Assistant needs to be passionate towards our patients, clients and staff. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. They would be a positive team player looking to support our amazing team and willing to continue their own education. The individual would be confident in rooming the patients, proper animal handling, and preforming daily tasks for a veterinary hospital and not opposed to helping in other areas if needed and wants to advance their skills to the next level. Requirements
- Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant
- Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements
- Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required
- Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
- Understands the importance of client education
- Compassion for our clients and pets
- Able to multitask
- Willing to cover other positions within the hospital
- Positive and supportive team player willing to continue to learn
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines
- Collect lab samples and maintain accurate patient records
- Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment
