About The Position

Sugar Land Veterinary Specialty and Emergency (SLVS) is seeking a second full-time Surgeon to join their multi-disciplinary hospital. SLVS has been a part of the South Texas veterinary community since 2007, offering high-level referral and emergency services in a 19,000-square-foot facility. The hospital fosters a culture of shared learning with daily rounds for peer-to-peer mentoring and support. They also provide structured career paths and continuous skill improvement for their support staff. The facility is equipped for high-volume, high-complexity cases and is supported by skilled anesthesia-focused surgery technicians and a dedicated central sterile supply team.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
  • Board certification or eligibility in surgery (DACVS or equivalent).
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary specialty and emergency hospital.
  • Proficiency in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
  • Experience with minimally invasive surgical techniques (laparoscopic, arthroscopic, cystoscopic).
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, high-complexity case environment.
  • Willingness to participate in a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Valid veterinary licenses and DEA registration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with interventional radiology procedures.
  • Familiarity with specific equipment listed (e.g., Siemens CT, Phillips MRI, Movora drives, Medtronic LigaSures, MicroAire saw, etc.).
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level referral and emergency surgical services.
  • Participate in daily rounds for shared learning and peer-to-peer mentoring.
  • Share expertise with a dedicated team of specialists and skilled ER colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively in a friendly and supportive environment.
