About The Position

SPCA Florida is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon who values exceptional patient care, positive leadership, and teamwork. Primary responsibilities include performing high-volume spay/neuter surgeries for public-owned animals and community cats. Candidates should either possess experience with or be willing to learn additional specialty surgical procedures, including: Amputations, Pyometra surgeries, Eye enucleations, Minor soft tissue procedures, Exploratory surgeries, and Other routine shelter and community medicine surgeries. The ideal candidate is committed to SPCA Florida's mission, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and is willing to assist other departments when needed to support the overall success of the Medical Center.

Requirements

  • DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
  • Active Florida, unrestricted veterinary license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA license (or ability to obtain)
  • Small animal veterinary experience
  • Strong surgical skills, specialty surgeries, and ability to maintain a busy surgical schedule
  • Positive leadership abilities

Responsibilities

  • Performing high-volume spay/neuter surgeries for public-owned animals and community cats.
  • Performing additional specialty surgical procedures, including amputations, pyometra surgeries, eye enucleations, minor soft tissue procedures, and exploratory surgeries.
  • Performing other routine shelter and community medicine surgeries.
  • Assisting other departments when needed to support the overall success of the Medical Center.
  • Willingness to assist with occasional emergency surgeries.
