About The Position

United Veterinary Care is offering externships for veterinary students at over 100 hospital locations in more than 20 states. This clinical experience allows students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world hospital setting. The externships are designed for clinical-year students at AVMA-accredited schools, typically in their 3rd or 4th year. Students will set goals at the start of their rotation and be integrated into the team through case discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on patient care in GP, ER, and specialty settings. Opportunities across a wide variety of partner hospitals provide diverse experience, mentorship, and confidence-building. Stipends are available to offset travel and lodging costs (unless prohibited by the veterinary school). HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Services in Morrisville welcomes students at any stage of their veterinary medical education (1st through 4th year). HousePaws offers a fusion of high-quality mobile veterinary care with access to traditional clinical care in their hospital locations, which are state-of-the-art outpatient care facilities for surgery, dentistry, and other procedures. HousePaws veterinarians handle a high volume of diverse cases, including individualized preventative health care, sick and emergency care, and surgical and dental care. Working with the mobile practice is unique, with each day presenting new challenges and surprises. The practice treats dogs, cats, exotics (avians, reptiles, small mammals), and small livestock (pigs and small ruminants), offering services such as soft tissue surgery, dentistry, holistic care, wellness/preventative care, and medical appointments. Externs will actively participate in cases under the supervision of an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff, including surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments. Case discussions and confirmation of exam findings will occur with the supervising veterinarian.
