Requirements

Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT), diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), and/or equivalent experience (e.g., sonographer course certificates).
3+ years veterinary ultrasound experience.
Previous training experience and the patience to teach and develop doctors, nurses, and fellow sonographers.
Comfortable mentoring others and giving/receiving feedback from colleagues.
Adaptability to changing environments.
Excellent communicator with peers, customers, and VEGgies.

Eagerness to grow as a sonographer through training and continuing education.
Desire to travel to regional hospitals and off-site training facilities.

Responsibilities

Perform ultrasound studies and facilitate ultrasound training at home and regional hospitals.
Maintain good relationships with and accept feedback from teleconsultation radiologists.
Ensure all training content and activities align with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and represent accurate, up-to-date sonographic techniques.
Track doctor and nursing team skills with a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist.
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation to modify and enhance VEG’s ultrasound training programs.
Meet with medical directors, nursing trainer, and director of radiology education to discuss program development, training objectives, and additional needs.
Meet with the hospital manager and medical director to discuss implementation of new training protocols, training schedules, hospital training needs, and team concerns.
Coordinate weekly schedule to work on floor shifts and devote time to training responsibilities.
Assist in developing ultrasound curriculum material, such as PowerPoints, videos, simulations, and assessments.
Provide educational demonstrations for doctors and nurses at other VEGs, including abdominal, thoracic, cardiac, cervical, and musculoskeletal studies.
