About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Veterinary Receptionist to join our team! In this position, you are the first BluePearl Associate that the client sees. You will ensure that each client receives the care and attention that they need. You will need to be able to function calmly and compassionately in situations that can be very emotional and difficult for our clients. Requirements

  • Compassionate, organized, and motivated demeanor.
  • Ability to function calmly and compassionately in emotional and difficult situations.
  • Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each individual with warm, professional acknowledgement and friendly eye contact whenever the hospital entry door opens.
  • Maintain a friendly smile, confident eye contact, and an approachable demeanor.
  • Listen compassionately and attentively to clients and their concerns.
  • Communicate clearly, calmly, and at an appropriate pace, both in person and over the telephone, ensuring information is easily understood.
  • Immediately assess each client’s needs upon arrival, as well as the pet’s general condition.
  • Determine whether an emergency arrival requires a “stat” response or is considered a standard emergency.
  • Respond to non-patient calls and visitors and connect them with the appropriate team member.
  • Confirm all appointments in advance and ensure clients receive accurate information regarding appointment preparation and pet care requirements.
  • Provide emotional support and appropriate resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during the handling of pet remains, ensuring the process is complete, accurate, and compassionate.
